Turkey is of Strategic Importance for Europe.’Turkey, Italy and the US Trade, Investments and Arbitration Panel discussed Turkey’s investment potential and opportunities.Italy’s Ankara Ambassador Giorgio Marrapodi, Florentine and Ottoman bankers working together and Rome and Istanbul’ Stating that the centuries-old active trade of Turkey still continues today, he said, “I believe in Turkey’s strategic power, its potential, its importance for Europe and the future of its close relations with Italy.” Speaking at the ‘Turkey, Italy and USA Trade, Investments and Arbitration Panel’, Marrapodi said, “Turkey is Europe’s gateway to the Middle East. Personal relationships and building bridges that will last for centuries are very important. Turkey’s position and importance are always strong with the world. It is an indication that they will have economic and political ties,” he said.
Livio Manzini, President of the Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Association, pointed out that the mutual trade volume between Turkey and Italy has increased to the level of 23 billion dollars and said, “Italy has reached the third place in foreign country investments in Turkey with nearly 5 billion industrial investments.” Manzini said, “Turkey has become a major production point. Currently, Germany is the largest production center in Europe. Italy comes second. If Turkey were an EU member, it would be the third country in this ranking.” President of the Presidency Investment Office Ahmet Burak Dağlıoğlu said: “Many sectors such as the industrial sector, the chemical sector, the food and beverage sector operate in sync with world trade. Amazon’s $100 million investment in Turkey is an example. This is Turkey. It clearly shows that Turkey is moving towards becoming a power center in the region as a logistics and production point,” he said.
